ForeBEARance... in case you missed it

I said, in a reply to Rhea, that I should be reading up on focal glomerulosclerosis, but I know too much about it, and I'm going to have to explain it to a very nice, retired otolaryngologist whom I see today, and who had this tumble out of the renal biopsy report. About 40% responsive to steroids, if you're nephrotic. He is, by definition, but not convincingly so. One of 12 patients I see in the office from 9:45 to 12:30, although I always run over. If you've been reading my journal, you know I run over!

Well, I'm terribly self-satisfied with my comments to Rhea... travellingrhea! And, I don't want you to miss them, because they disclose just how loose my connections are. And, after only 2 cups of coffee, and with NPR (National Public Radio.... our BBC) to keep me company. So, look up ForeBEARance, and understand what my wife and patients and nurses have to contend with! My friends really don't understand me, but my son, Dirk, does! Most are puzzled. None will read the explanation to Rhea as they live full and busy lives with challenges of their own. Maybe, my brother-in-law, Bob would find the ForeBEARance topic of interest, as that is his totem, though he is not rabid.

I can't believe that in 3 short days, I will be in Hawaii! The annual trek to the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel for the USC Diagnostic and Therapeutics Internal Medicine conference.... really, I go to school from 7:30 to 12:30, Monday through Friday, get CME credits, and enjoy the most beautiful beach in the world.... from our beachfront hotel room, as I watch... MARCH MADNESS, on the TV. Lin doesn't understand the delightful freedom of staying out of the sun in an air-conditioned room and watching game after game after game. Of course, it's all the better if my Bruins win and win and win, but there is always some underdog team that I can root for when the Bruins get eliminated.

But, for now, I must rush off, in my BLUE (okay, it's midnight blue, not the pale "baby" blue of Bruin fame) Porsche, and save lives!
