I'm Awfully Proud of My Country

As I watch the Inauguration, that's how I feel. The peaceful transfer of power. A black man in the White House. 53% of the vote. Even, some enthusiasm from the Republicans, and a graceful exit for George W. Bush. There's a lot of healing to do. I'll start by trying to peel off the Worst Ever sticker from the Porsche bumper. Unfortunately, I have to work today, and then go to the ophthalmologist to tune up the eyes for my drivers' test on Thursday.

I'd just like to indulge myself in the euphoria before the reality of the enormous task that Obama faces, sinks in. I know that his agenda is not my own, but he has the wisdom to understand what might be achieved, and how it might be achieved, and it is about as close to what I would hope for, for this country, and, hopefully, the world.

Rick Warren, giving the benediction. "....unequalled possibility....the compassion to lead us with generosity...... freedom and justice for all.... when we presume that our greatness is and prosperity is ours alone, forgive us..... as we forgive those who trespass against us....."

Aretha Franklin.... "My Country 'tis of Thee."

John Paul Stevens swears in Joseph Robinette Biden to the Vice Presidency.

Air and Simple Gifts

The Greatest Inauguration Speech.... the greatest Speech! Ever!

and the ER, K 6.3, GI bleeder on dialysis... a little reality, and not so over-rated, after all!
